for October is Long Beach Arts Month

California Writers Week (the third week in October), plus a bonus event co-sponsored with our sister branch in Orange County.

to the classic Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport for an evening of tasty refreshments, networking with other writers, and a program
guaranteed to take your writing up a notch after Maralys Wills presents "Ten Ways to Improve Your Manuscript." Wills,
the author of 13 books, speaks at major writers conferences around the nation. Attendance is free.

(the Los Altos branch library)
when college instructor/Web designer Brennan
Harvey will explain what writers need to know about Facebook, Twitter, and integrating these social networking tools into
a web site. Attendance is free.
BONUS Program -- a morning event
The
same day--but earlier--all writers are invited to attend a special event co-sponsored by the Long Beach and Orange County
branches of California Writers Club on Saturday, October 15 from 11 a.m.-12:30. This takes
place in nearby Old Town Orange (see map and more details at www.calwritersorangecounty.org). Speaker is Orange
Coast Magazine editor Martin Smith (former editor-in-chief of Los Angeles Times Magazine) who will present
"Shaping and Publishing the Personal Essay."
Attendance is
free
